Removing a QuickBooks Closing Date or Closing Date Password

The steps below are for removing the password on a closing date set in QuickBooks. This is done if you want to remove a password from a part of your company file that you have closed the books on.

  1. Open the QuickBooks company file as an admin.
  2. Select Edit > Preferences.
  3. Select Accounting on the left.
  4. Open the Company Preferences tab.
  5. Click Set Date/Password.
  6. Remove the password from the Password/Confirm Password fields.

    Note: If you want to remove the closing date, just clear the Closing Date field.

  7. Click OK.
